Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vaping?

Vaping is the use of a vaping device! There are many vaping devices, but “vaping” is the term that unites them all.
Vaping is the inhalation and exhalation of vapour when using an electronic cigarette / vaporiser. It is the evolution of smoking, replacing many negative associations with the old habit of tobacco combustion. The technical term for vapour is called liquid aerosol, it can be compared to how a kettle heats up liquid like water and produces a steam vapour.
Vaping works when the e-liquid is heated creating a vapour that is then inhaled and exhaled. E-Liquids come in many different strengths of nicotine and even come in nicotine free. Vaping is seen as a healthier alternative to smoking.

How do vaping devices work?

All vaping devices work in the same fundamental way:  A battery powers a coil heating element that turns a liquid solution known as e-liquid into an aerosol.
Different devices apply these principals in differing ways – and it’s surprising just how many variants have been created from such a simple concept.

What parts make up a vaping kit?

Mod – This is the main body of the Vaping kit. They are called Mechanical MODs because they do not contain any circuity or electronic component whatsoever. When the fire button of a mechanical MOD is pressed, it physically makes a connection between the battery and the atomizer coil, causing it to heat up.
Tank – The tank, also known in the Vaping world as an atomizer, a clearomizer, a glassomizer and sometimes even a cartomizer are the combination of the heating element and e-liquid holder that turn your battery from a lithium ion power stick into a VAPORIZER!!
Coil – An atomizer head, which is also referred to as an atomizer coil, is the portion of a cartomizer/ clearomizer that makes contact with the battery on one side and with the e-liquid on the other side, thereby vaporizing the liquid into a vapour that can be inhaled.
Battery – Devices have either 1,2 or 3 batteries, more batteries allow more vaping to be done on a single charge. Be careful not to purchase fake batteries as these can be highly dangerous. An easy way to make sure you receive original and safe batteries is to buy from us!
If you already have a battery and want to check its authenticity you can weigh it, 45 grams and over it is real, 44.9 grams and below its fake!
Juice – Juices come in all sizes, strengths and flavours
Sizes of bottles vary from 5ml up to 120ml
Strengths vary from 0 mg of nicotine to 24 mg of nicotine
Flavours come in every imaginable flavour and combination

Why should I vape?

Vaping provides you with the sensations, rituals and nicotine that smoking provides, but is not smoking. In fact, from a flavour perspective, we believe vaping is now more enjoyable and satisfying than smoking ever was.

Is vaping safe?

Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to discuss the safety of vaping devices due to federal restrictions. We’re very sorry about this, but you can do plenty of independent research yourself on the internet.

Can I vape anywhere?

The short answer here is no. Sadly, many countries have chosen to prohibit vaping in public places, shoehorning vaping into smoke-free legislation. Thankfully, vaping is still permitted in public places and many indoor areas in Al Ain.
Nevertheless, it’s wise not to assume that you can vape anywhere, premises owners in Al Ain are entitled to prohibit vaping on their property, and many do.
In some cases, it might be wise to stealth vape using a discrete device.

Is vaping right for me?

If you’re an adult smoker then the answer is yes. Non-smokers should not take up nicotine in any form. Vaping devices and their addictiveness of nicotine is as yet not fully understood. It should be assumed that it does have the potential to cause dependence.

What are PG or VG liquids?

PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerine, or glycerol) are ingredients in e-liquid which create the vapour. Both are widely used in a variety of products for human consumption. PG is associated with a stronger “throat hit” but with less visible vapour, whereas VG has a sweetish taste and produces a much more visible vapour. Some vapers find PG irritates their throat and lungs and choose to use VG based e-liquids instead. Some e-liquids contain a blend of both ingredients to balance out the characteristics of each.

What e-liquids should I get?

Again, there is no one-size fits all answer here, so the best thing you can do is to try out a few e-liquids and see which one suits you. Interestingly, don’t assume that you need an authentic tobacco flavour. There are some good ones out there, but we find that the vast majority of vapers end up choosing a flavour other than tobacco, and this happens very quickly if they try a few different ones to begin with. In terms of PG/VG, you’ll have to try for yourself and decide what you like.

What strength e-liquid should I buy?

This is, in a way, the trickiest question of all because ultimately, it’s a personal preference. You need to try out vaping to see what you like. We at VAPE Al Ain would suggest if you were a heavy smoker start at 6mg, and if you were a light smoker 3mg will be fine. Heavy smokers will probably smoke between
5-10 ml each day whereas social/ light smokers might only smoke that each week. Some vapers prefer a stronger nicotine e-liquid but on a lower powered device, whereas others prefer less nicotine but on a more powerful device. And some people are somewhere in the middle!
Also, vapers differ in how much nicotine they need, and how much they want to vape overall. So, if you want to vape less, use a stronger e-liquid, if you find you’re getting too much nicotine from the amount you like to vape, move to a less strong liquid.

Can I save money over smoking?

Yes, absolutely. Although how much you will save depends on several factors:
How much cigarettes or tobacco costs where you live.
The amount you spend on devices (this becomes a hobby for many!)
How much juice you smoke.
How careful you are with your device, an easy way to cost yourself cash is to burn your coil by holding the trigger button without inhaling. Another favourite is to drop your gleaming new kit on the floor and smash the tank.
As with all possessions; treat them nicely, look after them and in time you will be rewarded in your pocket!

What should I look for when choosing a vaping device?

There is a huge range of vaping devices available, and they come in all shapes and sizes. When choosing your first device you will be making your choice based on looks and price/performance. It’s hard to give generic advice.
However, do make sure you consider this: You will always want to have a device charged up and to hand. The biggest mistake new vapers make is forgetting that you need time to charge up a vape once it’s gone flat, and this can be frustrating. Keep a backup, and stop yourself having that cheeky cigarette whilst you are waiting for your vape mod to charge.

How can I get the best tobacco-like flavour?

There are some very good tobacco liquids out there, but none of them are identical to smoking. Remember that vaping is fundamentally not smoking, and much of the flavour and sensation from smoking comes from the very fact that it is smoke which is being inhaled.
Most vapers find that the absence of smoke is actually a big plus point, and that they transition quickly away from wanting a smoke-like flavour.

Can I quit smoking by vaping?

Federal regulations, which came into force in 2016, forbids about talking on this topic.
It is impossible to say whether YOU can quit smoking by vaping. The only thing we can say with certainty is that there are many people who are known to have quit smoking after starting with vaping.
Whether you will be one of those people depends on a few factors, such as how motivated you are, how much effort you make finding a device that works for you, and how much you find you enjoy vaping to being with. The only way to find out is to try!

Mixing and steeping – Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, flavourings and (if applicable) nicotine.

How much nicotine is e-liquid? Are there nicotine-free versions available?

Nicotine is calculated as a proportion of the e-liquid. So, if you have a 10ml bottle of 12mg nicotine – the percentage of nicotine in that bottle is 1.2%, totalling 12mg. Usually e-liquids come in the following order of nicotine strengths 24mg, 18mg, 12mg, 6mg, 3mg and 0mg (zero nic) – So yes, you can still vape liquids without any nicotine.

Can I mix different e-liquid flavours together?

Yes

How do I refill my tank?

Generally refilling your tank is an easy process. Depending on the device you are using, the method may be slightly different. On the basic starter kits, you simply remove/ twist the top (also known as a Drip Tip or the mouth piece) and send the liquid into the tank.
Other clearomisers require you to unscrew the base and refill the tank from the bottom. It is important to avoid the middle part of your device because that is the chimney to your mouth piece and you do not want e-juice spilling out as you attempt to re-fill. So always aim for the sides of the tank or where appropriate depending on your product.
You can always follow our YouTube channel to see advice for all of our kits.

Is there an on/off button?

Depending on the device there is usually an on/off function using the fire button in quick succession which is either 3, 5 or 7 times depending on the model. Some of our box mods use an on/off switch.

How do I choose the vaping product that’s right for me?

We always recommend starting with one of our starter kits which you can find here. After using a starter kit, you will be in the best position to know whether you would benefit from upgrading in the future depending on your vaping preferences.
